In sickness and in health

An agenda-setting paper to raise the profile of health needs for people with a decision-making disability

The Office of the Public Advocate had received reports that the health and dental care needs of people with impaired capacity was being neglected.  Outpost Consulting with Donna McDonald Consulting were commissioned to explore the extent of the issues, the factors contributing to the problem and opportunities to change the situation.

We prepared an ‘agenda setting paper’ to bring the issues to the attention to policy-makers and others who can generate change.  The paper was launched publicly as an invitation to work together on improving legislation, policy and services to help give adults with impaired capacity full and appropriate access to general health care.
